Class Types

We have many different classes for you to choose from, and we know it can be tricky to choose your best fit(s), so here’s the low down on all of them for you to get started! At Leeds aerial arts we have a huge range of classes allowing us to cater to every interest and ability level. Keep reading to learn which classes are the best fit for you.

Aerial Hoop

The OG apparatus of Leeds Aerial Arts! Aerial hoop’s are the large metal rings suspended from the ceiling, and are a great option for complete beginners or for those who are nervous about getting up in the air. The static nature of the apparatus provides support and all important rest positions. Hoop classes combine conditioning drills and fun challenges to help you to build strength. We then work on creative shapes and sequences including mounts, static poses, drops and rolls for the ultimate workout for both brain and body.

Aerial Silks

Join Aerial Silks for the ultimate gravity-defying experience. Working with long strips of fabric that hang from the ceiling you’ll unlock new aerial skills such as climbs, wraps, footlocks, inverts and more. The versatility of silks allow you to learn plenty of the tricks close to the ground and then perform them from a greater height once you’re feeling confident and after a challenge! Aerial Silks is the most physically demanding and rewarding of the aerial apparatus, perfect if your dream is performing moves with wow-factor!

Static Trapeze

One of the most recognisable pieces of circus equipment, trapeze is made up of a stable bar hung from two ropes. This iconic shape provides opportunities to explore twists and wraps with the ropes, while also using the bar to rest between shapes. Trapeze shares a lot of its fundamentals with aerial hoop, so training the two alongside each other is a great way to build confidence with your mounts, shapes, and rolls in the air!

Aerial Yoga

A fun full body workout rooted in traditional yoga, but with the added fun of going upside down! Your weight is fully supported by the suspended yoga hammock, so you can feel safe to explore and have a play with fun and relaxing shapes and stretches. Come along to relieve some tension and leave feeling energised and refreshed in both mind & body.

Aerial Sling

Aerial Slings are large hammocks of fabric that hang from the ceiling allowing you to make shapes, wraps and perform tricks in the air. Traditionally used for Aerial Yoga the sling offers support and rest positions (comparable to a hoop or trapeze), whilst allowing you to use the fabric similarly to the aerial silks, which can require greater upper body strength.

Youth Aerial Hoop

An aerial hoop class for aspiring aerialists aged 10+. A great way to build strength, coordination and flexibility learning tricks straight from the circus. Develop communication skills, teamwork, and build confidence - all whilst having a blast flying through the air! A super fun way to burn off some energy and get your aerialist moving after school.

Aerial Hoop Flow

This class is perfect for those who are passionate about dance and music. Each week you will learn a new aerial routine set to music. Learn to thread shapes together, develop transitions, and new impressive spins and sequences This class is the ultimate stamina builder - to get the most out of this class we recommend having attended at least 6 sessions of aerial hoop and feeling confident with inverting on the hoop & working at pace.

Intro to Aerial Hoop

This class is for complete beginners who are interested in starting their aerial journey - if you fancy dipping your toe into the world of aerial hoop before committing to our 4-week beginner’s course, this is the class for you! No prior experience is needed, just come along ready for a fun new challenge.

Flying Solo

If you already have some experience with our aerial equipment you can hire out the silks, hoop or trapeze to practise independently. This is your chance to master the tricks you’ve been working on in class at your own pace - the session is untaught, but an instructor will always be on hand to ensure your safety. To book one of these sessions you should have completed a beginners course or feel comfortable with all beginners moves unassisted.
