Ever wanted to learn how to fly? Now’s your chance! Here at Base Acro we teach you how to lift each other up, creating visually aesthetic and dramatic static acro poses and acro flows. We are dedicated to getting people moving in unusual and interesting ways, exploring their sense of self-expression and building community. We share these passions with others through the medium of acrobatic yoga (acroyoga). Acrobatic yoga is a great way to get fit and healthy, make new friends and challenge yourself mentally and physically.Whilst considered a form of yoga, acroyoga differs from traditional yoga practices vastly. In our classes you can expect to work in small groups flowing through a series of poses that involve one, or sometimes a number of individuals being supported by another. As a teamwork centred activity, acroyoga is about finding your flow with those around you and celebrating human connection through movement. play and trust.
About Jake- Jake first started practising acro after moving to Leeds for university. Now, as a fully qualified osteopath, his knowledge of how the body works makes him an exceptional acro teacher. Jake has a passion for helping individuals challenge themselves mentally and physically, whilst working with their natural physique. Besides teaching acro, Jake enjoys spending his time hand-balancing, skateboarding and doing martial arts. About Gemma- Gemma first started experimenting with acroyoga throughout her time at university in Sheffield and Cambridge. Upon graduating, she moved to Leeds where she became invested in the acro community, qualified as a yoga teacher and partnered up with Jake to create BaseAcro. Gemma has a passion for using acro to inspire confidence and encourage people to get active whilst having fun and being social. When she's not on the yoga mat, you'll find her on the slackline, up a climbing wall or in the park hanging from some silks.
Beginnner’s Acroyoga Course (6 weeks) (£70) (£60 for students) Wednesdays, 18:00 – 19:30 Priority is given to students attending the course, if space is available, drop-ins may be accepted – please contact email@example.com to check if drop-in space is available. Drop in price is £13 per class. A 6-week course for complete beginners to learn the basics of acroyoga. Learn how to safely, base, fly and spot for all the fundamental acroyoga positions. This course will equip you with the necessary skills to develop a safe at-home acroyoga practice and join our acroyoga open sessions.No yoga, acrobatics or acroyoga experience required. No partner necessary. Just a desire to learn, a willingness to connect and a can-do enthusiastic attitude!If you are attending one of our courses and you miss a session due to injury, illness or other extenuating circumstances we will allow you to make up the session by attending a class in the next beginners course (subject to availability). Intermediate Acroyoga/Open Sessions (£7 per person)Wednesdays 19:30 – 20:30If you have existing acroyoga experience or you have completed one of our six-week courses, this session is for you. This is a taught session, with flexible teaching. In this session we are open to you coming with an idea of what you want to learn. If you don’t come with an idea, we will teach you something new to your ability level or help you refine something you have been working on. Please book online in advance to let us know you are coming, due to limited capacity.
